February-March Makeover

My February (and now March, ha!) makeover is my lovely sister-in-law, Gabrielle (Gabba). She may have uttered the tiniest peep that she may be ready to cut and color her gorgeous-shiny-deep brown-thick-wavy-perfect hair and I jumped on it! In 6 years she has let me “sun-kiss” it once, and that was a long time ago. After two (darling!) kids and moving all around California and even to Florida (for my brother's undergrad-master's-internship-job) it was finally time for her to have a moment of pampering and greatness! And I was so thrilled to be the one she happened to “think out loud to.”

After baby No. 2, her lovely hair was falling out again, (ahh hormones!) and it was time for a cut. We decided on a medium, collarbone grazing length, with long, textured layers, so that she could “wash and wear;” or when she had the time, she could curl it and still have some length to style. This native California Girl and her 16-month-old baby have equally beautiful wavy dark brown hair. We decided to mirror her daughter's natural sun-kissed highlights, and with the proper placement and color, we added very natural California, sun-kissed looking highlights throughout. We varied the color throughout her hair, sometimes beginning the “kissing” at the root, and other times partially down the hair shaft, and then added a bold pop in the front for fun. The result was gorgeous, yet very low maintenance. Perfect for a mother of two boisterous youngsters.

Foiles Galore!
For her hair style, I took vertical slices of hair and, working from the bottom up, twirled them around a ¾ inch iron and then finger combed them for a natural, lose, yet elegant look.

For her makeup, knowing she is a “mascara and gloss” kind of girl, I wanted to go big and dramatic. Since Gabba already resembles Snow White, I played on that, emphasizing her fair skin with our luminescent translucent powder with light reflecting properties. I popped the apples of her cheeks with our shimmering, Berry blush, focusing the color on the outside of her cheekbones for added contour. For a dramatic effect, I enhanced her already dark brows with a chocolate shadow, topped with Arbonne's Brow Gel. I then worked the Berry blush color into the crease of her eye to pop and complement her green-blue-teal eyes, and tight-lined her bottom and top lashes in Arbonne's pencil liner in Coal, smudging it for an extra dramatic effect. To match her apple-red, Snow White, cheeks, I lined her lips, just outside of the lines, in Arbonne's Rum Raisin lip liner, and then with a lip brush blended Arbonne's Jam lipstick and clear chapstick to mimic the flushed color in her cheeks. The effect was dramatic and gorgeous.
James Bennett Photography came out and met us at the neighborhood park and expertly snapped a few shots of Gabba and her darling daughter, Genevieve. James brought his newest toy- of course a fancy camera- and impressed us all with his lighting, his vision, and how easy it is to work with him! Thank you James! My recommendation is that you find, friend, and hire James here. He truly has innate photography talent!
